Sustainability and innovation have always been two constants in Tecnomaco’s production process. For this reason, in defence of the environment and the territory that hosts our plants, we have equipped our company with a photovoltaic system. Because sustainable production also involves the ability to produce green energy ourselves.
Reflecting on climate change: a danger to global health
The latest report by the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), published on August 6th, points out that climate change is increasingly widespread, rapid and 95% attributable to human intervention. The document points out that, in order to halt the phenomenon, “strong and constant reductions in emissions of carbon dioxide (CO2) and other greenhouse gases” are needed.
In the run-up to the UN Conference of the Parties on Climate Change (COP26), scheduled to take place in Glasgow from 1-12 November 2021, more than 200 peer-reviewed journals have come together in a joint appeal to reaffirm science’s commitment to global health. “Despite the world’s much-needed concern about Covid-19, we cannot wait for the pandemic to pass to rapidly reduce emissions. […] 2021 must become the year the world changed course. Our health depends on it,’ said Fiona Godlee, editor-in-chief of The British Medical Journal.
Changing course: aiming for energy sustainability
Renewable energy sources such as sun, water, wind and biomass will play a key role in tackling the climate crisis. In order to become carbon-neutral by 2050, the European Union has set an important intermediate target: by 2030 at least 32% of energy consumption must be supplied by renewable sources.
In line with the European orientation, the National Integrated Plan for Energy and Climate (PNIC) has established that in Italy, within the same year, the production capacity with renewable sources will increase from 96 GW to 114 GW. Photovoltaics will lead the ecological transition because of its efficiency, “its modularity and the fact that it uses a widely available source”.
Taking concrete action: Tecnomaco’s photovoltaic plant
Technological innovation in recent years has led to a gradual increase in the performance of photovoltaics, making them even more convenient in terms of cost reduction, increased energy productivity and reduced environmental impact.
The decision to invest in a photovoltaic system, for Tecnomaco, is the natural consequence of a business model focused on sustainable production, respect for the environment and enhancement of the territory. The ability to produce green energy independently will allow us to make a further contribution to the decarbonisation of the global economy and, at the same time, to invest new resources in research, to design increasingly efficient and cutting-edge solutions.
